Hello, I am Nishant Shah!
(Sage of Six Paths)
I was a Robotics Software Engineer at Humatics, Waltham, MA. I was an Robotics Software Intern at Humatics in Summer 2019 and an Algorithms Intern at Philips in Summer 2018.
I have completed my MS in Robotics Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute , MA, USA in 2019 and BE in Mechatronics Engineering from G H Patel College of Engineering and Technology , Gujarat, India in 2016.
My work at Humatics revolved around developing new algorithms, implementing API's in C++, integrating third party libraries and packages for robot localization, testing and analyzing proprietary sensor data like Ultrawideband, IMU and odometry writing Python scripts. I was also responsible for maintaining in-house navigation module to test and analyze the localization module performance and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Docker.
I have an interest in the field of software development, state estimation, motion planning, perception, backend engineering, SLAM, reinforcement learning, navigation, manipulators and mobile robotics.
Sept 2019 - May 2020
Worked on addition/modification of data APIs over UDP for IMU and UWB range sensor ROS driver and firmware. Analyzed multiple IMUs using statistical methods and algorithms to drive choice of IMU for the product. Performed localization performance evaluation for new in-house localization hardware and automated the navigation module. Worked on design and implementation of algorithm for obtaining good UWB range sensor data.
June 2019 - Aug 2019
Designed and developed a tool for field deployment engineers for evaluation of Odometry, IMU and Range sensor data used for Localization using ROS framework. Improved understanding of Gazebo simulation (URDF, sensor plugins, controller plugins), sensor fusion and different type of robot models (Differential, Ackermann).
July 2018 - Dec 2018
Worked on wearable biosensor, handled sensor data to monitor patient's activities, heart rate and respiration rate. Used MATLAB and C++ to deal with data collection, processing and sensor calibration using the tool developed by team.
